Wedgwood commemorative transferware plates made for The University of Texas. In the late 1920's Jones, McDuffee & Stratton and Wedgwood began to market extended series of higher-end plates to college and university alumni associations. This orange and white plate depicts the OLD MAIN BUILDING on the front center of the plate with the Seal of The University of Texas at the top of the plate and the Seal of The State of Texas at the bottom of the plate. Encircling the building is a rope design with bluebonnets in the middle. The rim of the plate has a repeated design of barbwire fencing, cactus, longhorns and a Lone Star with a bluebonnet in the center of the star. The intricate detail of the transfer is truly amazing! The back of the plate is printed with: THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS THE OLD MAIN BUILDING. with the music and words to the first stanza of "The Eyes Of Texas Are Upon You" printed below that. Also, the SOLE IMPORTERS stamp of Jones, McDuffee & Stratton. The impressed date code is in the form of a series of five digits which I believe dates the plate to 1930's. This is a remarkable find! A wonderful treasure for any UT fan, graduate, prospective student, Texan or lover of Texas! * Wedgwood University of Texas * OLD MAIN BUILDING * 10 1/2 inch plates * Extremely difficult to find! * MINT CONDITION, no signs of wear, cracking or crazing <br>
