Herbert Mears grew up in New York City, was drawn to Europe to study in the studio of Fernand Leger while passionately absorbing the heady artistic ambiance of post-war Paris. In 1951, Mears moved to Houston, TX where he taught at the Museum of Fine Arts, Rice University, the University of Houston, The Contemporary Art Museum and the Hill Country Arts Foundation. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions, in museums, and is seen in a myriad of private and corporate collections.
