Luo Tong was born in China in 1969. He enrolled in the Oil Painting Department of Academy of Fine Arts in Guanzhou in 1990, and graduated with his Master's Degree in 1994. Tong went on to instruct in Guanzhou Academy of Fine Art. He was also one of only twenty students selected from across China in 1999 to be allowed to pursue post-gradute studies in the area of painting at the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing. He was the recipient of several awards in China including the Luo Zhong Li Scholar Prize in 1997, and the Mei Yuan Cup Award for painting in 2000.
Tong has won numerous awards and has been featured in select Asian art publications, as well as being featured in Southwest Art, and International Artist.
Luo Tong's Painting "Grandma" won Best of Show in the Salon International 2004 exhibition by the International Museum of Contemporary Masters of Fine Art (Texas, USA).
