    Obituary of Charlotte Claire Warden Payne: December 22, 1924 – December 1, 2011

    Charlotte Claire (Warden) Payne, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at the age of 86 years.

    Born December 22, 1924, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Charlotte was the daughter of Roy E. and Claire (Hess) Warden. A graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas, she was initiated into Chi Omega on March 3, 1946. Charlotte taught school in Arkansas prior to beginning her family. After moving to Central Texas in 1955, she fell in love with the Texas Hill Country. She became an active member of the Texas art scene from 1965 to 1985.

    On November 24, 1948, Charlotte became the wife of Sanford Russell Payne. They had made their home in Elgin for twenty years, and the Round Rock area for the past thirty-three years. Charlotte was a member of Round Rock New Neighbors. Mr. Payne preceded Charlotte in death on September 2, 1987.

    Charlotte was also preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Jim Roy Warden, as well as, her husband and parents. She is survived by son, Ward Payne and wife, Patsy; son, Russell Payne; three grandchildren, Alan Heinzke, Candace Lochridge, Melissa Payne Muschalek; five great-grandchildren, Chadwick, Austin, Justin, Payne, and Presley; along with other loving family and many dear friends.

    Friends may pay their respects beginning at 12 noon on Monday, December 5, 2011, at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
